The staff at the funeral home you liaised with, may be able to assist you with this information. The amount of ash produced can vary greatly as it is dependent on a few different factors. It is important I know the ash volume in milliliters before making the urn. This determines the size urn I make for you. *Please know that it is the volume (in millilitres) of your baby's ashes following their cremation that is important, not your baby's birth weight. If you are unable to provide me with the above information, you may consider the following: 1. Take the ashes to the funeral director who organised the cremation & ask them to measure the ashes 2. Measure the ashes yourself in to a measuring jug and advise me of the amount 3. Bring the ashes to me in Highett, Melbourne and I can measure them (there is an additional charge of $50 for me to measure) 4. Send the ashes by courier or registered post to me and I can measure them (there is an additional of $50 for me to measure) 5. Take a photo of the ashes and send the photo to me so I can estimate the appropriate size urn. I understand the options above might be difficult for you to do and I am happy to guide you to ensure the least amount of distress occurs. Perhaps a friend or family member might be able to support you to do this challenging task. Sizing: It is important you consider whether you would like all of your baby’s ashes in the one urn, or whether you would divide them (please see "Information: To Help Inform Your Decision' on our Urn Designs' tab on our home page). The amount of ashes produced for anyone is extremely variable. It is therefore important I know the final amount of ash in millilitres, following your baby's cremation. As a general rule, the loss of a baby: • in the first trimester may produce no ashes or up to a teaspoon or tablespoon (and sometimes more). • a pre-term baby in the second trimester, may need up to a 250ml medium sized urn • a full-term baby would typically need up to a 500ml large sized urn (our large heart urn) Pebble Urns are available in a small, medium or large size. Yes. Your baby's urn can be unique with your baby's name or an important date or a few meaningful words. Or I can imprint a cornflower, a dragonfly or a lavender sprig on any of our urns. Please see our photo galleries on our website. Of course, you do not need to have any embellishment. Lettering, is individually done by hand by Eliza, and imprinting of each letter or number has an additional cost of $5 per letter or number. Each urn is carefully custom-made by hand, by Eliza in her studio to your specific requirements. Each piece, takes many hours and days to make, shape, tidy, apply designs & lettering, dry each urn, kiln time and no two urns will be the same. Pricing: Pebble Urn $120 small, $300 medium, $450 large. Heart Urn $180 small, $350 medium, $480 large. Lettering $5 per letter &/or number. Lettering is done by hand and each individual letter or number is imprinted on to the clay and is an additional cost. You may also choose to keep the urn plain with no adornment. There are many factors that determine the length of time until your loved one's urn is ready to be sent to you or picked up from my studio. Factors include, my time to make the urn, drying time, tidying/sanding time, imprinting of names/stamps and the nature of clay can make for many variables. Therefore the time it takes for you to receive your personalised urn may take between 4 - 6 weeks. This timeframe is also impacted by kiln availability by a 3rd party.

At the base of each urn is an opening which is sealed with a rubber stopper. Some of the stoppers are glued if I feel it is necessary (this is often the case for the small urns). The larger urns have a silk pouch* with a drawstring tie and the ashes are held within this pouch with the rubber stopper on the urn's base. You can place the ashes directly into the urn with any of our urns however, extreme care must be taken when moving the urn. *we try to use recycled materials wherever possible (e.g. recycled silk pouch).

Yes, I can assist with this or do this for you. You can either come to my studio in Highett, Melbourne or send me your loved one's ashes via registered post or courier (at your cost). I can then transfer the ashes into your chosen urn for you. There is an additional cost of $75 for me to transfer the ashes into the urn plus any applicable return postage back to you. You are very welcome to wait (40 mins - 1 hour on the day you bring the ashes to me) or collect the urn from my studio in Highett, Melbourne if you are sending me your loved one's ashes.

Domestic orders Postage with either Australia Post is an additional fee of $18.20. From date of dispatch, orders typically take 3 - 10 days to reach you Australia-wide. All items are registered for tracking to deliver your urn safely to your chosen address. --- If you prefer to use your own courier, you can arrange for your urn to be collected from the studio in Highett, Melbourne (Australia) at your cost. You are also welcome to pick up the urn from the Highett studio.

International orders Yes, I can send your urn overseas from Australia. Postage will be calculated as an additional cost and would be dependent on the total weight of the urn with packaging.
